I just got done reading Winn Claybaugh's book "Be Nice (Or Else!)". I got it at school, and although we are not required to read it I thought that I might as well since a majority of the Paul Mitchell culture is based off it.
I thought that it was amazing. Really motivating and inspirational. The lessons and ways of life that Winn explains in his book are what everyone should follow. What an amazing world this would be..
Here is a link to the Be Nice website if anyone is interested in learning more about the book: http://www.beniceorelse.com/
Anyways in one of the opening chapters of the book Winn talks about Paying it forward. He tells a story about always paying for the car that is behind you in the drive through. Whether that be at Starbucks, Subway, Burger King. It's just a nice little "to do" that makes you feel amazing about yourself and makes the person that you paid for feel like he/she is worth something and that there are still good people in the world.
Just the other day a girl was having a bad morning before school so she went through starbucks to get a coffee to start the morning out better and she paid for the vehicles behind hers drinks too.
Another day a guy at school went to mcdonalds after school for supper and he paid for the trucks meal behind him.
Then I heard a story about one of my leaders teachers getting there coffee paid for in the drive through at starbucks a couple mornings ago..
This way of paying it forward is really spreading.
So after weeks about knowing about the whole "paying it forward in the drive through line" thing I decided to try it out for myself. I went to McDonald's for supper tonight and I ordered just a 1$ McChicken and decided to pay for the Van that was behind me. I told the lady at the window Here's my money and tell me the total of the vehicle behind me too, I'd like to pay for them. She laughed and said "oh, did you cut them off or something?" I said, No, I am being nice and spreading the love. She looked at me like I was crazy and then told me the total of the vehicle behind me and I paid. When she was giving me my change back she said "this is the nicest thing I have ever seen anyone do, you didn't even ask how much it cost, you just wanted to make someone happy" I said Merry Christmas and drove ahead and got my little mcchicken sandwhich and made one mom of a van full of hungry kids the happiest lady ever.
So, this is me.. telling you.. PAY IT FORWARD. SPREAD THE LOVE... it's called Karma. I'm telling you.
peace & love.
